Update..again!

Since April 9, which is the day I got back from Tokyo, life has been a whirlwind. I suppose I should take it as a good sign that you guys out there are pestering me to update my blog. Where would I be without you all.....

Ok, after Tokyo was work, work, work, then fly off to Tioman for a short break. Then back again and work, work, work, then off to Bangi for a 3-day course which they only tell you at the last minute. Then work, work, and tomorrow evening I'm off to Kuching on business which runs into my weekend!!!

The only reason why I'm not telling my customer to fly kite is coz my boss is going as well.

On a personal note, I read what you guys wrote about the whole marrige/wedding deal.

This could be what I want to believe in. It could also mean I'm kidding myself. But I don't know...

The guy does want to get married and all (so he says, he's been talking about it so much!). Problem is, he's got too much on his plate to even have time to figure out how best to address the marriage issue. He does seem quite earnest about it. But currently the company he's working for is undergoing M&A and he's in charge of it. Plus he runs an F&B outlet and he's in a JV with some friends. They've got a restaurant which is not doing so well at the moment. Since he's a shareholder, he's expected to cough up some dough to keep the restaurant alive.

We did talk about cutting down on expenses but he wants a 300 pax guest list. And he wants an akad nikah as well as a reception afterwards. And he wants his aunts and uncles (the whole dynasty) and friends to attend.

Me, on the other hand wouldn't bat an eyelid at the idea of eloping. Stress-free. No wastage in terms of $$$ entertaining people you hardly know. And I'd much rather spend $$$ on a whole week in the Maldives for honeymoon!!!

Maybe I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it's true what SF said that either he's not ready, OR I'm not the one.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW.

Ok, ok...update

Someone actually left a comment in my previous post telling me to update. Muahahahaha.......

Update la.

Well, so much for the "I love you" hype. Now it's the marriage hype. This is the part which I DON'T like. Why?

Well, he terms marriage as a moving goalpost. Meaning kalau tak de duit, tunda la dulu. No need to be in such a hurry. Yeah sure, so long as you (the man) DOESN'T want kids!!! I'm fine without having to deal with screaming babies and soiled diapers. I'm totally fine. I have my pet fish.

Anyway, what I wanna say is that marriage is like Nike tagline. JUST DO IT. If you start calculating your finances and shit, you'll realise that $$$ is never enough. And even if it is, you'll always want more. So in the end, it won't be enuff anyway...

Sometimes I swear people think of all the wrong things when it comes to marriage. Example, people think that marriage=wedding reception.

Eh, hello! Akad nikah dah cukup la...

Of course, me being the Royal Leo(ness) that I am would love one of those fairy-tale weddings with me in a cascading white gown etc...but hey, that ain't gonna happen la...Unless I get hitched to some prince somewhere...

In any case, kalau tak de duit tu, tok sah la cakap pasal kahwin. Nak tunda tu tunda je la...Risiko tanggung sendiri. Kalau orang lain sambar kang, nasib la, kan?

"I love you"

10:15pm
Me: Hi, just finished dinner with Bank of ____ officer.
Him: Oh, ok...I'm at the shop, clearing the accounts.
Me: Is everything ok?
Him: It's like looking for a needle in a haystack...Listen, can I call you back later?
Me: Ok, bye...
Him: (Click)

11:05pm
Me: Hi, you still at the shop?
Him: Yeah, eh...sorry I forgot to call you.
Me: Am I disturbing?
Him: No, no, no...Uhm...I need to clear the accounts by tonight.
Me: Ok, goodnite, bye!
Him: You're not mad at me, are you?
Me: No.
Him: Ok...I love you.
Me: Alright, 'nite. (Click)

I think that some men, use the words 'I LOVE YOU' as a ticket to get them out of trouble. I'm sure he knew that I wasn't too happy about it. Especially when the day before, he calls up and asks why is it that I don't call him, why is it that he hasn't heard from me the whole day, etc...Of course I did tell him straight in the face that everytime I call, he's always busy and doesn't have time for me. Case in point, the converstion above.

I guess saying "I love you" has become a tool, or somewhat of a commodity/leverage. By saying those 3 words, the man hopes to make everything alright. Sounds simple enough. If you're dealing with a simple woman...In which case, I'm not.

Anyway, I'm too old to make a big fuss about this one so I'll just let it slide...

M! The Opera

Much ado about the whole thing...

I didn't read the synopsis. I went without any clue as to what the performance was all about. I don't see what the obejctive was by placing Paula and Azean in their respective roles as those roles didn't seem to mean much.

Likes:
1) Those guys in long cloaks and short that did acrobatics and dances all the way through. They were good. Especially the guy in the pony tail.

2) Best actor -the guy who played Kerabat. (George Chan) Is he Singaporean?

3) Nice vocals overall except Paula and Doreen...Doreen was a bit shrill at times.

4) Wonderful choreography!

5) Very 'in'...

Dislikes:
1) Some scenes made me sleep.

2) The guy who played M didn't quite manage to bring out the charisma of M according to what was in the synopsis.

3) Kids under 16 should not have been allowed in the theatre. They got bored and kept fidgeting.

4) The illegitimate child part wasn't explained in the show. (i'm just kay-poh)

5) The translation on the digital board did not tally with the dialog.

All in all, good effort for Malaysian production. However, a lot of people make a mistake of comparing it to PGl-The Musical. People should understand that PGL is of a different genre.
